BHARATHIDASAN UNIVERSITY
The Centre for
Distance Education (CDE) of Bharathidasan University (BDU) was
established in the year 1992, originally intended to cater to
the students of the University area who could not enter the
regular colleges for higher studies. Subsequently, the area of
Centre for Distance Education was extended to cover all over
India.
To help the Students, our Personal Contact Programme Centres
(PCP) are located in 41 Towns / Cities. There are more than
16,000 students on roll, with an annual enrolment of about
7,000 to 8,000 students. The Centre for Distance Education
offers as many as 66 programmes including 14 UG, 24 PG, 7
Diploma / PG Diploma MCA and MBA programmes are the most
sought after Courses.
Besides the conventional programmes the Centre for Distance
Education is offering programmes in Computer Science and
Applications, Information Technology, E-Commerce, Bank
Management, Financial Management, Co-Operation, Library and
Information Science, Animation etc. The lab-oriented
programmes are meticulously planned and executed with same
vigor of regular programmes, with no compromise on the
practical requirements.
The Centre for Distance Education conducts the theory and
practical classes on Saturdays and Sundays. The conduct of the
programmes are strictly monitored by the Centre for Distance
Education Staff and the Director through regular visit to the
PCP Centres.
The students are requested to give their feedback with regard
to the quality of teaching. Remedial steps will be taken to
maintain high standard of teaching. There is a grievance
register kept at every PCP center. The grievances of the
students will be redressed without any delay. The study
materials are also given to the students regularly in tune
with the every revision in the syllabi.
A significant number of our MCA students have found quite
lucrative career abroad.
Some of the special strengths of our CDE are worth mentioning:
Conduct of MCA, MBA and other Professional / Lab oriented
programmes under Semester pattern, following the same syllabi
and common examinations as per regular programmes. Hence our
CDE students are entitled for University Ranks / Medals.
Intensive and regular conduct of practical sessions conducted
in the labs of regular colleges and monitored by a duly
designed lab co-ordinator.
Results will be declared along with that of the regular
students.
Arrangement will be made for Scholarship for students
belonging to SC/ST of Tamil Nadu.
